However, as we all know, Windows 10 is full of bugs and errors. Some users have complained that they can’t find Microsoft Edge on their device. There are several reasons why the Edge browser is missing in Windows 10. Sometimes it can be due to corruption or the absence of some files or components in the system. The Edge browser database is corrupt and more. Here are some working solutions to help you restore missing Edge browser in Windows 10.
Perform an SFC scan.
The files you need to run Edge may have been corrupted. You can use the System File Checker (SFC) to repair or replace them. Here are the steps for performing an SFC scan:
- Press the Windows + X key on your keyboard.
- Select Command Prompt (administrator) or Windows PowerShell (administrator) from the list.
- Type “sfc / scannow” (without the quotes) and press Enter.
The scan may take several minutes to complete. Therefore, it is important not to interrupt it.
Use Windows Powershell to solve the problem
- Open the Start menu and enter PowerShell.
- You will find that two results are displayed. Choose the one that reads Windows PowerShell.
- Now enter the command below.
- Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$ ($ _. InstallLocation) AppXManifest.xml”}
- You may see an error, but nothing to worry about.
- After running the command, restart your computer.
Run the DISM command.
If an SFC scan shows that Windows Resource Protection has detected corrupted files, but has been unable to restore some of them, run the Deployment Image Maintenance and Management (DISM) command that maintains the system image and allow the SFC to restore the corrupted system files.
- Open the command prompt again as an administrator.
- Enter the command DISM / Online / Cleanup-Image / RestoreHealth and press Enter.
- Wait until the scan finishes 100%, then run the system file checker again.
- Reboot Windows and see if the Edge browser is restored. It’s working properly.
Note. The tool may take 15-20 minutes to run. So wait and don’t give up.
Turn off the firewall.
- Go to Search, type firewall, and open the Windows Defender firewall.
- Select Enable or disable the Windows Defender firewall.
- Turn off the Windows Firewall for private and public networks.
- Confirm your choice and try the update again.
Run the Store app troubleshooter
Since Microsoft Edge is a Windows application, run the Build in Store application troubleshooter to help troubleshoot and prevent your Edge browser from opening.
- While searching the Start menu, type Troubleshooting Options and press Enter.
- Select Windows Store apps and run the troubleshooter.
- This will allow you to explore and fix issues that are preventing Windows Store apps, including Edge browser, from working properly.
- Once the troubleshooting is complete, restart Windows and see if Edge is restored.
